VIRTUAL CHRISTMAS PAGEANT - INSTRUCTIONS FOR CHURCHES
1. Read the script and cast the following roles:
Narrator 1, Narrator 2
Gabriel (Several lines spoken to Mary at Annunciation)
Mary
Angel 2 (Angel who appears in Joseph’s dream)
Angel 3 (Angel who speaks to Shepherds – Peace on Earth!)
All Angels
Shepherds (one line)
Wise Man 1, 2, and 3
Feel free to combine roles if you don’t have enough children. E.g. One actor could record the lines for all three angels, or you could combine Narrators 1 and 2 into just one narrator. If you have a larger number of children, they can all participate by saying the line for “All Angels” and by singing “Away in a Manger.” You can also make the Shepherd group whatever size you like.
2. Contact the performers and give them the “Virtual Christmas Pageant Instructions for Performers” sheet—or give them the link to this website page. They will need to record their voices and their singing on their smart phones. Give them a deadline to get those audio files (or video files) back to you. They may need to use Dropbox or Google drive to do this, since the files will probably be large.
3. Get the audio/video files back to us. If you contact us when the files are ready, we can send you a link to a shared Dropbox folder or a shared Google drive folder where you can upload the files.
4. If the children include video files of their faces as they sing “Away in a Manger,” we may be able to insert them as a “virtual choir” at the close of the video. (But we can’t guarantee this.) If we find it is possible to create a virtual choir, you’ll need to get permission from parents to show the faces of their children online.
