UNIT V. Teamwork
working as an ensemble
MAIN OBJECTIVES:
1) Build a group that works together as one unit.
2) Practice listening and responding quickly to other members of the group.
1. WARM-UPS
Lead two or three physical and vocal warm-up activities.
2. SKILL BUILDING
Explain to the students: Actors need to work together on stage as a group—sometimes called an ensemble. Today’s session will both test and strengthen how well you can work as one group. This might also be a good time to remind students they will be presenting a final workshop performance for an audience after session 16.
Count to Ten (Teamwork) In a circle with eyes closed, the group must count to ten—but only one student can speak at a time. If two people speak at the same time, the group has to start over at one. Stress that students must listen and sense when it’s the right time to speak. (No instructions or video available.)
Mirror Tableaux (Teamwork) Stress that each team must work together quickly and without discussion. Instead, each team member has to see what is needed and provide the missing part.
